This week, we are focusing on two important aspects of your child’s development: understanding the natural rhythm of milestones and the importance of cultural responsiveness in their learning environment.
Development is a Journey, Not a Race
It's natural for parents to wonder if their child is "on track." In Montessori, we observe and meet the child where they are. While milestones (like walking, speaking full sentences, or grasping a pencil) provide a general roadmap, remember that development is non-linear. Every child has their own unique timeline.
If you have questions: Your child's teacher is your best resource. They spend hours observing your child and can provide specific examples of their current capabilities and next steps, focusing on their strengths rather than perceived delays.
Creating a Culturally Responsive Classroom
As the month moves toward the holidays, conversations about family and traditions become more common. A culturally responsive environment is one where every child's heritage, traditions, language, and background are not only tolerated but celebrated and woven into the fabric of the classroom.
How we do this: We include materials, books, and images that reflect the diversity of our community and the world.

Partner with us: We invite you to share a simple, positive family tradition (whether it's related to a holiday, a meal, or a regular Sunday ritual) with us. Knowing these details helps us make your child feel truly seen and respected in their second home.
